Miss Peregrines House for Peculiar Children

Miss Peregrines house for peculiar children is a novel we are reading as a class. It is about a boy, Jacob, with a Grandfather who went to Miss Peregrines house and met a whole load of Peculiar children; A girl who could fly, A scrawny boy who was able to life tons upon tons and many more, But Jacob dosent believe him when he starts saying "the monsters are back they are coming for me" and thinks he is going crazy. But every Thing his grandfather said was true about the monsters (Nazis) and the children and he dosent know it until its too late...

So far we have only read the first chapter as well as the second but as we have read its really hooking you in at every chapter and we are really enjoying it.

When we were learning about the book we used a site called kahoot, which is a quiz website and every question you get right you get points and at the end of the quiz you are rated on the points you gain and get in the top five...

Hoot
Hoot is a book about a boy called Roy who makes unlikely friends in his new town Coconut Cove, he Is also bullied by a boy called Dana Matherson and soon becomes friends with a boy hey spots running down the street and his Step sister and together they stop a local Mother Paulas pancake house under construction, from destroying the habitat of a specie of burrowing owls.
My favourite Character was probably The running boy because he was very risky and his actions were Unpredictable at times and he also stood up for what he believed in.
My least favourite Character was Dana Matherson who was a attention seeker, a bully and liked to put people down.
My Favourite Part of the book was when Roy first spots the running boy and chases him and comes to find his temporary camp by the golf course.
The themes and messages in the story that I personally picked up on was Bullying, sticking up for what you believe in, not giving up, Team work and survival.
My rating for hoot would be 8/10, it was a interesting novel but I did get a bit bored at times but all together it was also quite interesting at the same time.
The part that I am most looking forward to in the movie is The part when Roy finds running boys camp and the cotton mouth moccasins.

AIDA

This week on Tuesday our school went to the boys and girls high school production musical called "Aida".
The music in the production is written by Elton John and is 2 hour show. My favourite scene was all the conflict between the two towns, Egypt and Nubia and also the parts when the princess went back to Nubia and they did a lot of dancing. and how the end and the start of the production tied together.
Overall it was a bit long and but apart from that the props, actors, dancers and music was amazing and I would highly recommend it
4/5 (four out of five)

30 Day Book Challenge

Today we had a session in the second block where we did a form of  "Secret Santa" with books.

Where Miss Downard wrapped up 23 books one for each student making the cover non-visible only writing key words from the story on the wrapping so we couldn't judge it by its cover and used the random name picker to let us pick from the books one at a time, however you were also allowed to steal but only once because you either steal or pick from the piles of books in the centre of the mat. Once it got to me I chose a book with the word "Distopian" - "save the future" and "girl main lead"
but this book got stolen off me by maya so I had to pick a book of the floor and ended up with Perks of being a wallflower that I am so far enjoying!

Athletes make millions per their regular salary, it is estimated LeBron James makes more than president Obama, my argument is about those athletes who make so much money and if they DO deserve it, I think they deserve every cent but some think this is an outrage to our society.

Just think these athletes, basketball players for example, don't just get picked, these athletes work so hard to get where they are now and are considered best of the best. Some people don't think its fair but personally I think everyone has to work hard to get where they want to be, so those people who say its an outrage to have such high paid athletes don't understand what heights these athletes went to for these jobs.

Athletes=
Lebron James: basketball
ranked the 3rd highest paid athlete this particular sportsman gets paid $72.3 million a year and gets $53 million dollars in endorsements and every time he gets paid (salary) its $17.9 million dollars.
Even though these athletes gain a lot of money, they also have charities that they would donate a certain amount of money to every time hey get paid of yearly
LeBron James charity is The lebron James family foundation, where he pays to educate kids in need of help and helps in loads of other ways.

Floyd Mayweather: boxing

Floyd Mayweather is The best paid athlete in the world, with a total yearly pay of $105 million american dollars, this athlete has been unbeaten in his boxing career for years now and is a world class boxer, you would not be able to win a fight against this particular athlete.

These two athletes may get a lot of money compared to the 100th highest paid athlete but even he gets $17.6  million dollars a year.

I believe these athletes work very hard to get where they are now, as i said earlier in the text these people are the best of the best and worked very hard to get where they are now, so I believe these athletes deserve every little bit.

Cotton-mouth moccasins.

These animals are not something you would want to come across at any time, they are a venomous, long and thick snake, with a triangular head to see all threats.

-The average length of these reptiles can reach up to 40 inches long but one has been believed to have grown up to 2-1/2 meters long.
-Cotton mouths are mostly active at night and sleep in the day, you could say they were nocturnal.
- The diet of these snakes is cold and warm blooded animals including other snakes
- The life span of these animals is unknown
